Commitee Meeting 3rd July 2007

MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS OF  COMMITTEE OF COBH TOWN COUNCIL, HELD AT CARRIG HOUSE, COBH, ON TUESDAY 3rd July 2007.

Presiding -      Cllr. P.Whitty

 

Present -         Councillors S. Meade, P. Histon, N. Doyle, K. McCarthy, J. Mulvihill Jnr.

 

OFFICIALS PRESENT 

Ms. R. Mullarkey – A/Town Clerk

 An apology for their inability to attend was received from Cllrs. M Keating and D.Crowley, A/Town Manager Mr. Liam Singleton and the Town Engineer, Mr. Gerard O’Hora.

 The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer in silence.

  
1.      Vote of Condolence

Cllr. Whitty stated the reason why the meeting was called to express Cobh Town Council’s sincere condolences to Cllr. Sean O’Connor and his family on the death of his wife, Anne on the 2nd July. Cllr. Whitty asked for a Vote of Condolence which was proposed by Cllr. McCarthy and seconded by Cllr. S.Meade.

Cllr. McCarthy spoke of his sadness on hearing of Mrs. O’Connor’s death and expressed his deepest sympathy to Cllr. O’Connor and his family.

Cllr. Meade spoke of her long standing relationship with the O’Connor family since she was first elected to Cobh Town Council in 1985. She also expressed her deepest sympathies to the O’Connor family.         

Cllr. Doyle also wanted to associate herself with the condolences being expressed.

Cllr. Mulvihill Jnr. And Cllr. Histon also expressed their sympathies to the O’Connor family.  

The A/Town Clerk stated that all the staff at Cobh Town Council wanted to associate themselves with the condolences being extended including the Town Clerk and the Town Manager who were unfortunately both away on holidays and the A/Town Manager and Town Engineer who were not able to attend that evening.

Cllr. Whitty outlined the funeral arrangements over the coming days.

 
2.Civic Welcome for the Lord Mayor of Dublin.

Cllr. Whitty outlined plans for the proposed Civic Welcome for the Lord Mayor of Dublin on the 7th July 2007. Cllr. Whitty invited all Councillors to the Civic Welcome and stated that more details in relation to same would be available over the coming days. 

 This concluded the business of the meeting.
